sustainability

All life and human achievement is in reciprocal relation to our natural and social environments – born from its environment, yet impacts and re-forms that same environment. We share a responsibility to ensure that our relationship with our environs is concerted and progressive to best meet the needs of the present without compromising our future. what is “sala”?

A “sala” is a living room. Short for the Italian word “salone” and root of the Parisian “salon”, the name was chosen to represent the informal lively nature of the hosted gatherings. In concept, Sala gatherings are meant to revive the Café Society culture present during the heydays of great cities – Paris in the 1920s and 30s; New York City in the 1950s. In contrast to the exclusivity typical of classical Parisian salon gatherings reserved for the social elite, Sala aims to attract multi-generational, interdisciplinary minds of concerned individuals from all walks of life. Sala gatherings will be held in semi-public spaces around downtown New York with hopes of engaging the public sphere and reinvigorating the social fabric of the city.cafe-society-ny
